The lovely painting, Two Sisters, was painted by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida in 1909 and was the inspiration for this advanced fine-art cross stitch chart. This painting resides at the Art Institute of Chicago, a gift from Mrs. William Stanley North in memory of her husband. Two young girls, who are sisters, are enjoying a sunny day on a beach in Spain. Sorolla loved painting scenes outdoors, especially the ocean and beaches. This painting has no dark tones common to Spanish art and instead we see the brilliant effect of natural light dazzling in the girl's eyes and sparkling on the waves.
