This beautiful advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Rose-combed Dorking Cock, was developed from a chromolithographed print from Lewis Wright's book, "The Illustrated Book of Poultry," published in 1880. It was a resource for anyone who wanted to keep various types of poultry. Many of the poultry species embraced in England at this time were valued more for their ornamental and exotic characteristics than for their egg-laying capacity.
