Pomeranian, Maltese Cross Stitch Pattern

This advanced fine-art cross-stitch design, Pomeranian, Maltese, was developed from an illustration in The Illustrated Book of the Dog which was the book of authority on the breeding and care of pedigree dogs during the Victorian era.

In the typical English manner, the wealthy of the day, up to Queen Victoria, commissioned portrait painters to do illustrations of their favorite dogs, making them immortal. These chromolithographed prints were done on a stiff, creamy paper. Many of the pets in these portraits are breeds of dogs that are still loved today. Portraits such as these are rare, and it is wonderful to have these delightful prints of some of the world's most famous & best loved breeds of dogs.
