Cypresses Cross Stitch Pattern - Vincent van Gogh

This downloadable cross stitch design was developed from the well-known painting, Cypresses, painted in late 1889 by artist Vincent van Gogh, approximately a month after he entered the asylum in Saint- Rémy. Van Gogh was given permission to paint in the open air, so he took his brushes and paints and ventured into the groves of cypress trees that he could see from his window, just beyond the grounds of the hospital. This painting now hangs in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The lines and proportions of the cypress tree resemble an Egyptian obelisk placed against a sun-drenched landscape. Beautiful! Would make a very commanding cross stitch piece.
