This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Bathers, was developed from a painting done by French artist and Post-Impressionist painter, Paul Cézanne in 1874-1875. Cézanne began painting bathers in the 1870s and continued until his death. These paintings included numerous compositions of male and female bathers. The figures are clearly outlined although details within the outlines are obscured by the patchiness of the paint. This painting resides at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
