This is a very colorful and activity-filled design. This downloadable cross stitch design was developed from the painting The Iron Bridge (also known as View of Frankfort) done by German artist Max Beckmann in 1922. Beckmann painted in the Expressionism and New Objectivity style. He subtly layered figures and objects as well as color and shadow, and translated his reality into mesmerizing and narrative paintings. Beckmann was one of the most important artists to emerge from Germany during the turbulent period in European history. Many of his paintings were confiscated by the Nazis and destroyed because of Hitler's disgust for modern art.
