This fine-art cross stitch design, The Six Swans, comes from the beautiful illustration created by English artist, Warwick Goble, for the "Book of Fairy Poetry" by Robert Louis Stevenson. This book was published in 1920. "The queen threw one of the shirts over each of them, and when the shirts touched their bodies, they were changed into swans, and flew away over the wood."
