This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, The Bridesmaid, also known as The Traveller, was developed from a painting done in 1883-85 by French artist James Tissot (tee-soh). Tissot was extraordinarily talented in painting beautiful attire worn by women of society. This beautiful young woman certainly gained the attention of the passer-by in a busy street. The groomsman shields her from the rain, and their attraction for each other takes over the moment, making them oblivious of all those around them. This painting resides at the Leeds Art Gallery, England.
