This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Poppies at Argenteiul, was developed from an 1873 painting by the well-known French artist, Claude Monet, who was regarded as the founder and leader of the Impressionist group of artists. Monet had a passion for color, which is evident in this painting by his display of the wildflower fields of Argenteuil. In the foreground, and repeated at the top of the hills in the distance, he sketches his wife, Camille, and son, Jean. This is a beautifully balanced scene of nature with the human representation seen as incidental. Monet saw nature as something to be respected by man by being a part of it. This painting resides at the the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.
